Officials at Vermont Technical College say a school competition
and a grant from IBM helped reduce the school’s electric bill by more than $40,000 in
one year.
In Brattleboro, two dreams have moved closer to reality. One is the
dream of restoring the Brooks House, an important downtown building, gutted by
fire in 2011. There’s also the dream of a
downtown college campus that would bring students and jobs to Brattleboro’s Main Street.
A
committee of the Vermont State Colleges has picked a building in
downtown Brattleboro as the site of a new campus for Community College
of Vermont and Vermont Technical College.
U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will be in Randolph Tuesday, touring a
dairy farm at Vermont Technical College. She’s here to highlight a
training program that
supports agricultural businesses.
Vermont Technical College, in Randolph, is getting $3.4 million
from the U.S. Department of Labor. The money will support training programs in agriculture,
food production, waste disposal and energy production.
A new biomass project will help heat the Randolph campus of the Vermont Technical College and give students hands-on experience in the growing
field of renewable energy.

team who worked with six coffee farmers there, trying to form a cooperative to
sell organic coffee.
