On Monday and Tuesday nights, residents in the small northern towns of Eden and Lowell met with government officials to discuss the reported health risks associated with a now defunct asbestos mine. At the meetings, Vermont Health Commissioner Wendy Davis tried to explain why the state first flagged a cluster of lung cancer cases possibly associated with asbestos exposure, and then had to retract that conclusion. Davis apologized for the flawed study, but for many residents an apology wasn’t enough.

VPR’s John Dillon attended Monday night’s meeting in Eden, and he spoke with  Jane Lindholm about it.
