Democratic Attorney General Primary Debate

Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell is taking some tough criticism from his challenger in the upcoming Democratic primary.

In a debate taped at WCAX, Chittenden County State’s Attorney T.J. Donovan told Sorrell the U.S. Supreme Court is not a place to be dabbling as a lawyer.

The statement was directed at Sorrell’s performance before the court in 2006 in a campaign finance case that Vermont ended up losing.

Sorrell replied that, with the conservative court that later decided the landmark Citizens United case, the best lawyer in the world would not have done any better defending Vermont’s law.
