Winter Wildlife

Getting out of doors in the wintertime is a survival tactic for humans
in wintry climates like Vermont’s. And a good snow cover makes winter
a great time to trace the comings and goings of the many wild animals
who are seldom seen, but who carry out their lives in our woods and
fields. Deer, moose, fishers, otters, foxes, bobcats, coyotes: We talk
about them all with naturalist Ted Levin and Forester Lynn Levine,
who’s written a new guide to animal tracks and scat. And we take your
questions and wildlife sightings as well.

Also in the program, we talk with Oliver Goodenough of the Vermont
Law School about what could be a precedent-setting lawsuit. It’s a case
involving Brattleboro’s "citizen journalism" website, and it asks some
interesting questions about internet accountability. And we continue our
Year-end Review by looking back at some news stories that hit particularly
close to home.
