Fair Trade Recycling Of E-Waste

Print More

When you inevitably decide to
upgrade your computer or television, the next question is what to do with the
old ones. It’s got to go somewhere and, ideally, it won’t wind up in a landfill
here or abroad. That’s what has given rise to the idea of fair trade recycling.

A summit on the subject is
being held at Middlebury College on Tuesday. We hear from Good Point Recycling CEO
Robin Ingenthron and author and writer Adam Minter discuss how e-waste is being
re-routed and where it’s being put to use.

Post your questions or
comments about fair trade recycling here or email them to vermontedition@vpr.net.

Also on the program, the
state has released its third Irene Recovery status report. Much of the work of
recovery has been completed. Ben Rose, the
recovery and mitigation section chief for the Vermont Division of Emergency
Management and Homeland Security, provides an update on where projects and
funding now stand.

Plus, VPR’s Kirk Carapezza gives
us a look at the week ahead in the State Legislature.
