The rise in urban-style drug crimes poses new challenges for Vermont’s rural cities and towns. State Police Captain Thomas Nelson, who heads the federally-funded Vermont Drug Task Force speaks with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about how his agency works – often under cover – to shut down drug traffickers around the state. They’re joined by St. Albans Mayor Martin Manahan who describes how citizens in his city are mobilizing to reclaim their neighborhoods and their children from a surge in drug-related criminal activity.
