There’s a new Vermont export to New Hampshire during this fall’s presidential campaign: volunteers for Barack Obama.

Vermont is considered a sure bet for the Illinois senator seeking to replace President Bush in the White House.

So when volunteers walk into one of Obama’s three campaign offices in Vermont they’re usually sent to help out in neighboring New Hampshire, where the presidential race is tighter.

Meanwhile, Republican presidential candidate John McCain doesn’t have a campaign office or paid staff in Vermont. His supporters in the Green Mountain State are also being sent east to New Hampshire or put to work phoning that state’s voters.
