Another meeting will be held next week to update the public on the construction of a new bridge across Lake Champlain.

Construction on the $70 million bridge connecting Crown Point, New York and West Addison, Vermont is underway, and a temporary ferry is running at the site.

The New York Department of Transportation is overseeing the construction project. Officials will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, April 7 at 6:30 at Addison Central School. They plan to update the public on the construction process, as well as plans to restore the site where the ferry is operating, and on plans to commemorate the original bridge. And they’ll be taking questions from the public.

The contractor building the bridge and transportation officials are currently exploring ways to accelerate construction, after the company was granted a 65 day schedule adjustment. Officials say the bridge will open by October 9th as planned.
