Regional Report: Repeal Of Same-Sex Marriage Fails

It’s been a busy and contentious week in the New Hampshire Legislature.

A group of lawmakers tried and failed to repeal the state’s same-sex marriage law. If they had been successful, NH would have become the first state in the nation to repeal same sex marriage by an act of the legislature.

We’re going to examine this issue now in our weekly Regional Report, a conversation with local editors and reporters about what’s making news in their communities.

Valley News political editor John Gregg has been tracking this story as events unfolded in Concord. The vote wasn’t even a close one, the repeal failed 211 to 116. VPR’s Mitch Wertlieb asks John Gregg if that was a surprising result.
