Vermont State Police fire investigators say they still don’t know what started the fire that destroyed St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Holly last month, but it wasn’t suspicious.

Police say an origin and cause investigation found the December 30 fire started within the first floor area of the church.

The church was completely destroyed.

Investigators say an electrical issue cannot be ruled out, but the investigation is ongoing.

The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined.

Parishioners are asking the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington to rebuild their church.

The final decision will be up to Bishop Salvatore Matano and other church officials.
