Researcher Michael Nerney recently spoke to an audience of parents at Champlain Valley Union High School about the science and development of teenagers’ brains as they reach adulthood. Nerney says brain chemistry changes over time, and it’s different for boys and girls. In this excerpt from his talk, Nerney says adulthood doesn’t automatically start at age 18.
