Next week the Shelburne Museum opens an ambitious exhibition of work by iconic American photographer Ansel Adams. His sweeping landscapes and detailed studies of the natural world are ubiquitous but still merit a closer look. Paired with these original prints are photographs by contemporary Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky, whose work focuses on landscapes scarred and manipulated by industrial forces, including the Barre granite quarries.

As workers were hanging the photographs and setting up the lighting earlier this week, Shelburne Museum director Stephan Jost walked VPR’s Jane Lindholm through the show.
