Matt Dunne To Make Gubernatorial Run

The field of candidates hoping to become Vermont’s next governor is getting bigger.

The Barre Times Argus says that former Democratic State Sen. Matt Dunne of Hartland is planning to announce Tuesday he will seek his party’s nomination to succeed retiring Republican Gov. Jim Douglas.

The 37-year-old Dunne is the fourth Democrat to enter the race.

Others include Chittenden County Sen. Doug Racine, Secretary of State Deb Markowitz and Lamoille County Sen. Susan Bartlett.

Republican Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie is the only announced GOP candidate so far.

Dunne is expected to make a formal announcement in White River Junction.
