Legislative panel to review stimulus package

Three days after Governor Jim Douglas unveiled an economic stimulus package, the Legislature has set up a committee to review it and its and explore ways to strengthen Vermont’s economy.

The bipartisan committee was expected to start work yesterday.

The panel also will examine the Legislature’s work on housing, energy, health care, transportation to determine the short- and long-term impacts on Vermonters.

The five House and four Senate members are expected to complete their work next week, in time for the targeted May 2 adjournment.
