The nomination by President Obama of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court has had special resonance to some in the law community in Vermont. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals where Judge Sotomayor has served for more than a decade hears cases from Vermont.
Vermont judge Jim Oakes was another well-known judge on the Second Circuit. He and his wife Mara Williams Oakes of Brattleboro befriended Sotomayor. Jim Oakes died in 2007 but Mara joins us now to talk about their friendship with Sonia Sotomayor.
