U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy has a big lead in fundraising as he seeks his seventh term.
So far he’s facing two opponents.
According to fourth-quarter filings with the Federal Elections Commission, the veteran Democrat had $2.7 million in his campaign fund as of Dec. 31.
His opponents are Democrat Daniel Freilich, a Wilmington physician, and Republican Len Britton.
Freilich says his campaign has $4,701 on hand.
Britton reported raising $8,152 in the same period. Campaign spokesman Daniel Riley says Britton has virtually no cash on hand, though his report hasn’t been posted on the Federal Election Commission’s Web site.
