If you’re one of those political junkies going through withdrawal now that the U.S. presidential contest is history, you can turn to Canada to get a fix of serious political drama.

Canadians are facing a period of unprecedented political instability. Prime Minister Stephen Harper had the Governor General of Canada rush back from a trip to Europe and asked her to suspend Parliament, and she agreed.

Dr. Jeff Ayres is the Chair of the Political Science Department at St. Michael’s College. Ayres says such a drastic move is stunning to Canadians, and even more so to Americans.
