This weekend hordes of intrepid adventurers will descend on Montpelier and fan out in search of…fungi! Fungi Blitz is being hosted by the North Branch Nature Center and events include a mushroom potluck, a lecture on "Liking Lichens," and many forays into forest and fields to identify as many species of fungi as possible.
Mycologist Lawrence Millman will be leading some of those forays. He’s done fungal inventories and led mushroom trips from Alaska to Costa Rica and many places in between. Dr. Millman is the science adviser for the North Branch Mycological Club. He spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about what a mycologist is and does.
