Henry William Brands knows history is a tricky thing.

Brands teaches history at the University of Texas at Austin and is the author of 20 books, including the Pulitzer Finalist biography of Benjamin Franklin, "The First American."

Tonight at St. Michael’s College he’ll talk about how the actions of the past can be manipulated by the leaders of the present as part of St. Michael’s lecture series "For the Soul of the Nation — Rethinking the role of the U.S. in the World."
