Former National Hockey League star John LeClair pleaded guilty yesterday in Vermont District Court in Burlington to a driving under the influence of alcohol charge and agreed to pay $606 in fines and fees.

Police say the 38-year-old LeClair, of Haverford, Pa., was arrested on Interstate 89 on Oct. 24 in Milton and charged with DUI after refusing a blood-alcohol test.

The St. Albans native was a star hockey player at the University of Vermont. He went on to play professionally with the Montreal Canadiens, Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In 1990 LeClair was charged with drunken driving, but the charge was reduced to careless and negligent driving.
