(Host) The Federal Emergency Management Agency says almost $30 million in federal assistance has been approved for Vermonters to help repair property damaged during Tropical Storm Irene.

That number included $17.5 million dollars from FEMA and $11.5 million from the Small Business Administration.

FEMA spokesperson Deanna Frazier says more than 6,300 people have registered with her agency in the last month, and the deadline for doing so is fast approaching.

(Frazier) "So we want to make sure that people register regardless of what they think their situation is, let’s let FEMA decide where you’re at in your eligibility."

(Host) The deadline for registering with FEMA and the SBA is October 31st. FEMA says if you’ve registered and not received a determination letter within seven to 10 days, you should follow up with the agency.
