Emergency Bypass Under Construction On Route 4

Central Vermont Public Service and the Agency of Transportation are building a new road in an effort to restore power.

An emergency bypass of Route 4 in Mendon will be built over the next few days. Once completed, the road will only be open to emergency vehicles.

CVPS says without roads, they can’t restore power, so the extraordinary measure is necessary. The number of power outages in Vermont is slowly decreasing. Just over 20,000 homes and businesses are still without power.
