(Host) Brian Dubie is angry because he says Peter Shumlin is questioning his integrity.

Dubie and Shumlin appeared at a Burlington Free Press debate that was streamed live on the Internet.

The issue of Vermont Yankee and its parent company provoked an exchange. Dubie got angry when Shumlin accused him of placing the interests of Entergy shareholders over those of Vermonters.

(Dubie) "I don’t work for the shareholders. I resent you questioning my integrity. I take it personal. I’m a lieutenant governor who’s served my state. I’ll continue to serve my state. Please refrain from questioning my integrity, senator, and I won’t question yours."

(Host) Shumlin didn’t back down.

(Shumlin) "My experience with both you and the governor is that you are an apologist for Entergy Louisiana stockholders and Entergy Louisiana and you won’t stand up for Vermonters."

(Host) The exchange was prompted by news in the past week that radioactive material has reached a deep-water well at Vermont Yankee.

Five other candidates are also running for governor. Just Shumlin and Dubie participated in the Free Press debate.
