Funeral services are set for lawmaker Cola Hudson, a veteran lawmaker from Lyndon who died suddenly over the weekend from congestive heart failure.

The 81-year-old Republican, a member of the House since 1973, represented the towns of Burke, Lyndon and Sutton since 1973, when he was first elected to the state House of Representatives.

Calling hours are set for 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Guilbord Funeral Home, in Lyndonville. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lyndon Institute, with a reception following.

Governor Douglas got a standing ovation from Vermont lawmakers yesterday when he began his annual budget address with a tribute to Hudson, saying he expects Hudson will continue watching over Vermont in the hereafter.
