The Douglas administration is working on an economic stimulus package worth more than $100 million.

State officials would not release details about the economic recovery program but say it will be released next week.

Jason Gibbs, a spokesman for Gov. Jim Douglas says, it will be “a package of immediate steps to invest in economic growth and job creation as well as steps to ensure that Vermont emerges from this challenge with a stronger and more resilient economy.”

Legislators will be asked to revive Douglas’ "New Neighborhoods” proposal to encourage housing by easing regulations in some cases.

And Gibbs says the governor will again propose tax incentives for those living in downtowns and to encourage the creation of "green” jobs such as environmental engineering firms.
