The state’s Roman Catholic diocese is closing its Tara-Holy Cross camp in Colchester.
But the church has not put the 26-acre lakeside land on the market.
Bishop Salvatore Matano cited rising costs and decreasing use as the reasons for the closing.
In a letter to church members, Matano says the camp, formerly called Camp Holy Cross, lost $103,000 last year.
It attracted just half the amount of campers that it could accommodate during the six-week season.
