Last session, the Vermont Legislature passed a bill approving the hire of a consultant to prepare three models for reforming the state’s health care system. One must be a single payer system, and another must include a public option for health coverage.

The Health Care Commission selected Doctor William Hsiao, a professor of economics at the Harvard School of Public Health to come up with these models. He’ll be given 300-thousand-dollars to design the models and he’ll report to the legislature next winter. He spoke with VPR’s Jane Lindholm about how he’ll do it.
