Burlingtonians like to think there is plenty to brag about in Vermont’s largest city, and now there’s one more accolade: the Brookings Institution confirmed in a report Friday that Burlington is one of the most "inventive" cities in the United States, at least if that quality is judged by the number of patents it produces.
The report has Burlington ranked second in the number of patents awarded per capita. First place went to San Jose, CA, in the heart of Silicon Valley.
Jonathan Rothwell of the Brookings Institution co-authored the report. He spoke with Vermont Edition about the numbers.
