A man accused of shooting two people to death during a school shooting spree in Essex last year is getting a new lawyer.

Twenty-eight-year-old Christopher Williams’ lawyer, Richard Haesler, is leaving his job with the state Defender General’s office to go to work as an assistant city attorney for the city of Burlington next month.

Haesler says he’ll be there for Williams’ next court date, a January 9 competency hearing, but that after that, he’ll go to his new job.

Williams is charged in the August 24, 2006 shootings that killed Linda Lambesis and Mary Alicia Shanks.
