Hundreds of trained pathologists are working in Vermont schools, helping children deal with a variety of speech and language difficulties. Some stem from physical and neurological impairments, while the cause of others is less clear.
We talk with with two speech language pathologists. Gayle Belin is on the clinical faculty at the University of Vermont and immediate past president of the Vermont Speech Language and Hearing Association. Nancy Baker has a private practice working with infants and young children and also works in South Burlington schools.
