Opening Day to some might
signify the first pitch of the baseball season. But for many Vermonters, it
means the second Saturday in April has arrived and it’s time to throw on the
hip waders, grab the rod and reel and head to the nearest river or stream for
Trout Season.

Fish and Wildlife
Commissioner Patrick Berry and Lawrence Pyne, host of Vermont Public
Television’s Outdoor Journal
, prepare us for the fishing season ahead. They let
us know about the conditions, the health of our trout population and where to
find the fish this season.

Plus, if you’ve ever found
poetry in the lines of a good novel, you’ll appreciate Pulitzer Remix. Sponsored by the Found Poetry Review to celebrate
National Poetry Month, it features 85 artists making poetry from all 85
Pulitzer Prize winning works of fiction. Two of the artists are from Vermont and VPR’s Jane Lindholm spoke with one of them,
Winooski playwright James Moore.

Also
on the program, we continue our series marking the 20th anniversary
of the Vermont Folklife Center’s Traditional
Arts Apprenticeship Program
. We hear from  master stonecutter George
Kurjanowicz who has helped keep the art alive in the granite sheds of Barre.
