Officials with Vermont Fish and Wildlife say a strong spawning run has brought large numbers
of landlocked Atlantic salmon from Lake Champlain into
the river this fall.
The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is going to extend by a year its long-term study of the health of the trout population in one of the state’s most famous fishing rivers.
Trout season kicks
off this month, with opening day on April 12.
Although some
lakes and ponds will still have ice, officials with the Fish and Wildlife
Department say good trout fishing can be found early in inlets and outlets.
