As the first day of the 2008 legislative session gets
underway, we broadcast live from the statehouse. From policies on energy and healthcare, to
budgets for transportation and corrections, VPR’s Bob Kinzel outlines the
issues that are expected to top lawmakers’ agendas this session.

Then, we look back at how past sessions have shaped the
history of our state. Vermont State
Archivist Greg Sanford and longtime reporter and news analyst Chris Graff join
us to examine the legislative issues that have recurred through the decades,
and to reflect on monumental shifts, from the 1965 reapportionment of the House
to the rise of the Democratic party.

And, a look at how the city of Montpelier
gears up for the start of the session, and the influx of lawmakers in town.
