The state and the city of Montpelier
have agreed to cover cost overruns for an expanded heating district that they
share. Last
month, the state surprised
local officials and taxpayers when it announced that the project is already
more than 10 percent over budget.
City officials in Montpelier say they hope to begin construction on a wood-fired
heating system for the downtown district next year. Earlier this month, City
voters approved a $2.75 million bond to help
pay for the project.
