Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger will announce Thursday afternoon his proposal for a long-delayed highway
bypass in the southern part of Vermont’s largest city.
Officials say a 19th century anchor from a Lake Champlain freighter has been found off a Burlington beach and it will likely be transported to a deeper,
shipwreck preserve.
Public
safety officials have given conditional approval to the state’s first two
medical marijuana dispensaries, including one in Burlington. Other towns are deciding whether to opt out of the program by
crafting zoning ordinances that preclude dispensaries.
Burlington has reopened North Beach. The
beach was closed Tuesday after elevated levels of E. coli were found in the
lake following Sunday’s heavy rain.
Protesters
in Burlington say police still need to explain their response to an
altercation last week outside the downtown hotel where New England governors and Eastern Canadian premiers were meeting.
