Live Friday at Noon: Lightspeed Champion

British singer-songwriter Devonte Hynes led the bratty and abrasive
band Test Icicles a few years back, but it didn’t take him long to
adopt an altogether different sound and persona as a solo artist.
Hynes’ new group, Lightspeed Champion, is an inventive indie-folk outfit with an experimental side. The group will perform a concert from WXPN and World Café Live in Philadelphia at noon ET Friday and broadcast on VPR.net.

Early last year, Hynes came to Nebraska to record his debut album with Mike Mogis of Bright Eyes. The result, the new Falling Off the Lavender Bridge, has already become an emerging cult hit, both here and abroad.
