Live Friday at Noon: Back Door Slam

Print More

The British blues-rock trio Back Door
Slam brings to mind the rougher-sounding work of English blues-rock
players such as Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and John Mayall – which is
especially impressive given that its members are all in their 20s. Back
Door Slam, which hails from the tiny Isle of Man, will perform a
concert from WXPN and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia at noon ET Friday.

The
band built its audience slowly, playing at clubs and festivals and
opening shows for the likes of The Who and Don McLean. Back Door Slam’s
debut CD, Roll Away, came out last summer, and benefits from
the group’s sizzling guitar licks and gruff, emotive vocals. The band
has been touring in America since July, in the process winning over
critics and fans alike.
