Dartmouth College President James Wright discussed the school’s financial situation in his final State of the College address to faculty members this week.

Wright’s speech focused on the college’s commitment to financial aid and competitive compensation for faculty despite the looming economic crisis.

Wright said the endowment’s returns for the last fiscal year were "marginally positive," but he added that the college has been down several points this quarter.

Wright said the college will initiate measures to reduce expenses after the November meeting of the Board of Trustees.

He said no changes will be made to the College’s financial aid plan.

After 11 years at the helm of the Ivy League School, Wright plans to retire in June.
