Construction could resume soon on a nearly $6.6 million Danville road project that was halted suddenly because of traffic snarls and complaints by motorists and businesses.

The Route 2 improvement project was planned to rebuild the road and village green as well as relocate utilities. The project was halted July 14.

Bill LaPorte is the project manager for contractor Pike Industries. LaPorte tells the Caledonian Record he will gather with state officials to examine a proposed three-week construction schedule.

The projected is complicated by the need to treat contaminated soil on the western end of Danville green.
