A Vermont judge says the conduct of a woman who allegedly threatened a nurse at a Department of Veterans Affairs hospital suggests she’s a danger to the community.

Thirty-one-year-old Jennifer Marie Beidler was charged after a March 4 incident at the VA hospital in White River Junction. Prosecutors say Beidler – saying she was in pain and no one was helping her – held an ER nurse by the throat while grasping a scalpel in her other hand.

Prosecutors say Beidler suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorder, and that she has had run-ins at other VA hospitals.

At a detention hearing Monday in U.S. District Court in Burlington, Magistrate John Conroy ordered her held for a psychiatric evaluation.
