Winter Storm Closes Schools, Knocks Out Power

Almost 10,000 Vermont electric customers are without power after almost a foot of heavy wet snow fell across the state overnight.

The most outages being reported this morning are in Addison County, followed by Windham, Chittenden and Rutland.

The wind gusts and snowfall are expected to be heaviest on Thursday and Friday.

Utilities are urging customers to have flashlights, batteries and food and water available if the power goes out.

The storm has also closed many schools across the region. And the roads are treacherous in come areas, be careful if you have to drive this morning.
