Winter Storm Causes Treacherous Traveling Conditions

A major winter storm that could dump up to two-feet of snow on parts of the region has closed schools across Vermont and parts of northern New Hampshire and Maine and delayed the opening of Vermont state offices by two hours.

Traveling is treacherous across the region and officials are urging people to stay home unless absolutely necessary.

Vermont electric utilities say about 10,000 customers are without power, most in the southern part of the state.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the northern sections of the three states through early afternoon.
