Winooski officials say city police Chief Steve McQueen has been placed on paid administrative leave for the second time in two months.

But the City Manager won’t say why McQueen was suspended. All he says is it’s a “personnel issue.”

There was never an explanation of why McQueen was suspended in March, although the city manager says it was for more than one incident. McQueen returned to work on April 2.

McQueen and his attorney say they’re willing to release to the public all documents, letters, meeting minutes and other information related to the inquiry.  But McQueen says he’s been ordered not to do so.

McQueen has been Winooski chief for 12 years.
