Winning-streak fireworks annoy neighbors

In Windham, New Hampshire, the oohs and ahs have turned into “oh, no, not agains.”

At least one resident is complaining to police that his neighborhood sky lights up with fireworks — which are illegal in the town — each time the Red Sox or Patriots win a big game.

With the Red Sox World Series win and the Patriots’ unbeaten streak, that has been quite often this fall.

62-year-old Russ Williams says he like the teams, but he’s fed up with the backyard displays. Police are increasing patrols on game nights, but Williams says the culprits stop setting off the fireworks when the patrol cars come down the street.

Williams says the displays are impressive. When they started in the summer he first thought they were professional shows.
