The trial continues today for a man charged in a 2006 shooting spree that killed two people in Essex.

Yesterday jurors hearing the case against Christopher Williams got distinctly different views of it in opening statements.

Prosecutor Justin Jiron told them Williams should be convicted in the Aug. 24, 2006 rampage, which was triggered by a breakup with his girlfriend.

Williams’ lawyer, Robert Katims, told jurors that his client had been suffering from delusions in the days before the shootings, and that he roamed from place to place on Aug. 24, 2006 like a robot, shooting people with no plan or plot.

Williams, 29, is accused of murder and attempted murder. His lawyers plan an insanity defense.
