William Greider has a message for America, and it’s not sugar-coated. The National Affairs correspondent for The Nation magazine says the good economic times-as we’ve come to know them in the boom days-are not coming back.

But, he says, there is a chance to emerge as a richer nation-richer in a manner that has little do with the accumulation of wealth.

Greider writes about this re-imagined future in his new book "Come Home, America", and the part-time Andover resident gets a chance to introduce other Vermonters to his vision as the keynote speaker at the Vermont Employee Ownership Center’s annual conference tomorrow in Burlington.

In fact, employee ownership is one piece Greider says can solve the puzzle of how to lead a happier life in declining economic times. But first, Greider says, the big challenge he faced in writing his book was how to deliver the message that the age of abundance is over.
