Westminster Denied Federal Funds For Storm Repair

(Host) A Windham County town won’t get federal help in repairing roads damaged by a severe thunderstorm in May.

The town of Westminster applied for assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

But FEMA has denied the request for the May 20th storm.

Town officials wanted their damage to be included in the tallies for storms that hit northern and central Vermont.

Those storms resulted in disaster declarations for nine counties.

Vermont Emergency Management’s Mark Bosma tells the Brattleboro Reformer the May 20th storm was separate from the storms that damaged other parts of the state and so couldn’t be considered by FEMA.
