The massive budget bill that passed in the House last night did so without the support of Vermont’s congressman.

Peter Welch voted against the bill because it included 70-billion-dollars in spending for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Welch says the war in Iraq has been an "immeasurable tragedy" and Congress must use the power of the purse to end the war.

President Bush is expected to sign the $555 billion bill soon.
