Vermont’s lone congressman is planning to focus on women’s health programs as his budget priorities tour makes its next stop in Winooski.
Congressman Peter Welch will hold the session this afternoon at the Winooski Family Health Center.
He’ll be joined by the Health Center’s Dr. Ann Goering Stephanie Beck of the Department of Vermont Health Access, Jill Krowinski of Planned Parenthood, Kelly Stoddard of the American Cancer Society and Allison Hicks of the Hicks Foundation.
Women’s health programs have been the focus of intense debate in recent weeks with numerous attempts in the House to defund Planned Parenthood, a provider of health services to nearly 19,000 low-income Vermont women.
