This week we traveled to Waterbury to visit a new visual arts project that was created by members of the community.
The After Irene Floodgates Art Exhibit showcases work done by local residents that reflects their experience with and response to the storm.
The building at 3 Elm Street that houses the exhibit is a former auto parts dealer, and was itself damaged by the storm. The façade now bears markers from the 1927 and 2011 floods, and the space has been donated to accommodate this pop-up exhibition.
VPR’s Neal Charnoff spoke with project organizer, Sarah-Lee Terrat, and began by asking her about the focus of the art show.
